SUCCESS IS
HER STORY
She
parked her car, a red colour Acura ZDX 2016 model with a customised plate
number “KEMEASUODE” I am now a person, at her reserved spot
in the parking lot, at the left hand side of the Company storey building with a hundred floors. She made her way towards her office, her Secretary Oyinmiebi ran down to meet with
her as she was headed to her office gorgeous looking to update her on the day’s
schedule.
“First I would be having a
presentation with the Board of Director and if am successful I would become the
Chief Executive Officer of this Multinational Corporation” she internalised smiling
with content.
“That will be all, thank you very
much Miss Miebi” she snapped out of her thought and discharged the Secretary.
As
she moved she remembered her tale, where she started from, she visualised how
she got a knock on the head from her madam for not cleaning the glass table
properly, a table she had cleaned five times, she pictured herself that tiny
fourteen years old girl who always ran to the back of the house to weep after a
knock or slap is the soon to be CEO of the biggest car producing company in the
world. She gulped with satisfaction.
She
arrived at her spacious and heavily furnished office, sat down on her king sized
armchair, her pictures neatly hung on the wall, she stood up to take an
excursion of the photos, to look at her story so far.
There were so many and in all she looked beautiful, pictures of awards upon awards,
completion of different courses and degree and she saw one picture from her
thirteen years of age, the last she took with her Mama and Papa before she lost
her to Leukemia and him months later to heart attack, she was so happy, so
innocent, so naïve.
Her
face dampened and a frown crawled upon it, when she remembered how her
relatives carted away with all of her parents assets and left her with nothing,
nothing for an only child of thirteen.
Her
alarm beeped 10:00am, distracting her from the tight embrace of her thoughts. She
adjusted her Turkey black skirt and her well ironed white colour Italian top,
she took a handkerchief from the drawer by her desk and cleaned her shoe again,
then picked up the blue coloured file which she had worked on all night and started
her journey excitedly towards the conference room as Secretary Oyinmiebi ran
into her office to get her laptop for the power point presentation.
She
stood before the board, the only female amongst them, the only female amongst
thirteen fierce looking men all seated in the round table looking at her like a
lion waiting to devour its prey.
She heard herself speak, for three hours she
spoke hitch free and when she finally concluded, she was appreciated with a deafening
applause from the board, she stole a glance at the always frowning Chairman and
saw him nod continuously like an Agama Lizard, both his hands jammed in a loud
applause he stood up, his teeth popping out of his lips, allowing the emergence
of an overwhelming smile, she looked on satisfied, the gestures and demeanour
says it all, when she felt the day was complete and happy for its success she
heard him speak;
“We couldn’t have wished for a better
CEO”
